The above sign, located at the Tallangatta Lookout tells the story of the town that moved. Now Tallangatta is a thriving small town, only 40km from Albury/Wodonga and with all the basic facilities and retail that you need on a daily basis. The whole town is sandwiched between the Murray Valley Highway and the Southern tip of Lake Hume; the old town site is about 8km further down the narrowing tip of the lake and has its own lookout.
The Lookout is accessed by a fairly narrow but sealed road and provides magnificent views of the town, Lake and surrounding countryside.
The views at sunset are equally spectacular with just the right amount of streaky clouds.
