October 19 to?

Leaving Narrabri there was nowhere between there and Bingara to look at stopping so we returned to Bingara where we stayed a few days last year.  At that time we stayed further upstream at the third campsite from town, this time we opted for the first one which starts right at the end of the houses and runs along the river bank for over a kilometre.  This is the largest of these four areas along here and there is also a large more open free camp close to town on the opposite side of the Gwydir River.

As the weather forecast for the weekend included thunderstorms we stayed at first on the higher ground and gravel area, close to the old abandoned gravel pit.  Much of the structures are still there and even the remains of the workshop has spare parts hanging on the wall as can be seen below.

After the weekend and the rain had cleared, ground dried etc. we moved down close to the river bank staying away from the wetter parts as more rain was on the horizon for later in the week.  we decided to stay here for a while as it is only a couple more steps back to Brisbane… next Post…
