We are leaving here tomorrow after a quiet and pleasant week, punctuated by a couple of thunderstorm fronts passing through, although we were only on the edge of both and didn’t last long. A couple of days ago we were having 40 degrees plus, today we are in the low to mid twenties!

Anyway, the Reserve here is basically a collection of boulders and a water hole accessed from the camping and picnic area via a suspension bridge and then two short paths to either the water hole or the lookout platform on top.

The path to the top takes you through the back of the boulder formation and onto a steel platform with a couple of information boards about the geology and the story of “Cranky Rock”; and a view over the water hole and surrounding bush.

On the way to and from the top you pass the old entrance to the wildlife reserve which existed for 20 years from 1989 to 2009; an information board tells the story of this place and some of the old structures are still in place, like the old feed shed pictured.
