Bogan Weir, also known as Peak Hill Weir (on the Bogan River) is a spot we found via some online searching for a free camp South from Dubbo.  This is a council maintained area with lots of flat open grass and gravel roadways with 2 picnic shelters, lots of shade trees and a 200 litre rubbish drum (This was emptied by a council ute once during our 4 days).

Being only 6km West of the town of Peak Hill (and the Newell Highway) we still find it quite amazing that you can find spots like this and have them all, or mostly, to yourselves.  All this when the latest statistics say that there are up to 80,000 RVs on the road at any time of year (out of over 630,000 registered RVs in Australia).

During the time we were here we had a single motorhome for a night and another one for 2 nights, both he and us leaving on the Saturday morning after a lot of rain, had it stayed fine we would have stayed another day or two.  The fly epidemic that plagued us further north is not so bad here with only a normal quantity of bush flies around.

Lots of bird life as usual around here but some very noisy young Magpies begging to be fed:
