Before our last week in Ipswich we took a break and spent a week at the Kalbar Showgrounds. This allowed us to complete the first part of our Darling River trip by travelling down to Condamine Gorge and Killarney (see next Post). If we had gone the other way we would have had to drive via Warwick to Killarney and leave the van there – you can’t get to Killarney from the North due to the steep, narrow roads. The round trip to Killarney was about 120km and a very easy 3/4 day drive.
Kalbar is only a small community in the beautiful Fassifern Valley and only about 4km from the Cunningham Highway; it is only an 11km drive into Boonah for most shopping, and also only about 45km from Ipswich.
