The campground at Port Huon, provided by Huon Valley Council at $10/night, is at the Shipwright’s Point Regatta Ground which overlooks the Port Huon Wharf. When we lived in the Huon in the 1990s this was a little used wharf facility, sometimes used for mooring Icebreakers over the Winter, notably the Russian ones. Now it is a thriving centre for the Aquaculture industry and the area still has coolstores for the Huon’s apple industry.
The Ground is also the home of the Huon Yacht Club with a few vessels moored nearby and being a point has views in both directions along the Huon River.
The grounds here have lots of space but most of it sloping requiring levelling and so is fairly quiet at present, no doubt as the tourist season gets into swing it will attract more campers.
