February 19-24, 2020
After several days at Policemans Point and a thunderstorm on our last day we moved further North to Tassie’s North Eastern Coastline and the Campground at Petal Point. With a view of the Musselroe Wind Farm and looking out over Lemons beach towards Cape Portland this has to be another of Tasmania’s hidden gems.
Our arrival day was windy and showery but when the weather cleared to reveal the views all around including out to the North to Cape Barren Island and Flinders Island seen here in the distance.
The campground here, managed by Parks and Wildlife, is part of a Conservation Reserve and consists of an area of small bush sites r tents and small vehicles and the large open area known as the Village green, for caravans and larger RVs
Pathways lead form these sections to a new hybrid Toilet in the middle of the bush; along the way we encountered this very unusual spider, less than 1cm across.
From here we took a walk to the actual Point with it’s view to Maclean Island, Southwards to Boobyalla Beach and then back around to Lemons Beach and a walk to the Cape Portland end of the beach and back.
