Leaving Eden after a very pleasant four day stay we detected our Landcruiser sounding a bit “tractorish” along the way North in the exhaust at the very front so decided to check for a suitable workshop in Bega to look at it. With a lack of easy parking near the workshop which was recommended we drove around to stay at the Showgrounds. Plenty of space and all the basic amenities including a laundry the fees are only $20/night. We booked in for four nights (until Saturday) and went in search of the mechanic.
The end result was that we had cracked the front pipe and manifold and so parts were required which were going to take 2-3 days so we settled in for an extended short stay. Most parts arrived Friday morning and Bode, the mechanic is working on it over the weekend as I write this (he works any day of the weekend) is the local go-to man for race and rally cars etc, as well as the exhaust specialist in town. A couple of other minor issues are being taken care of at the same time as well as giving it a Dyno Tune while we’re at it; an exhaust manifold was not available from Toyota so we are fitting extractors which hopefully will give us some small performance and fuel economy improvements!
Due to the Corona virus situation the Showgrounds decided on Wednesday that they would close for camping as of Friday and everyone had to leave, except us because we have no vehicle. So here are campers starting to move out and the end result with no one here but us by Saturday morning!
