Bitter Springs, about 3km from the Mataranka township and the end of the road. The Cabin and Caravan Park shares the name and is only a 500m walk from the springs themselves. The springs here rise in the bed of the Little Roper River and visitors are able to enter the water and float downstream for a few hundred metres, most use a pool noodle as can be seen in the photos to allow for a slow leisurely drift with the current.
A walking trail loops around the back but is still closed after the wet season and not yet cleaned up. The pictures tell the story
The Caravan Park is a very shaded and spacious area with lots of room around each site, we used the unpowered section, and while depleting our batteries a little more each day was very pleasant surroundings
