An often bypassed National Park the Mary River NP is located on the way into Kakadu; there are a few places to camp including Hardies Lagoon where we went first. This is a free camp adjacent to a boat ramp and has no facilities and limited scenery; just a place to pull up for a night or two.
Further along the highway towards Kakadu is the turn off into the Park itself, this road takes you to the campgrounds at Couzens Lookout (our choice) and then to the Wilderness Lodge at Point Stuart and to Shady Camp, the other NP Campground
Couzens Lookout Campground offers multiple locations to set up with not much flat ground but has an updated hybrid toilet and a pleasant walking trail along the river and back around the loop of the access road.
