Boondi Rock is a National Parks free campground in the Great Western Woodlands, a National Park area of 16 million hectares (roughly the size of England and Wales)

The area includes many Rocks which arise from the landscape and like this one arise only to a height of 40 to 50m above their surroundings. Here at Boondi a dam was constructed in the late 19th century by prospectors to channel water runoff from the rock in the sparse rainfall this country receives
The campground is a scattered space among the trees with picnic tables at most sites and basic toilets. A short walking trail takes you to the dam and a walk to the top and back makes up around 2km. The rock can be seen here as the camera pans around above our campsite.
