Herron Point is a Council operated campground on Collins Pool, the large extension of the Mandurah Estuary . With only 28 sites (6 for tents only) online bookings are essential at weekends as it is a very popular spot with “locals”. Near new toilets and non potable water, plus rubbish bins and an almost waterfront location make for a great stay. We booked in for 4 days (you are allowed only 5 days per month to keep it open for all).

Saturday morning we took a 40km drive to Dawseville for the Parkrun, see below.

There is little opportunity here for a bushwalk but we did manage a 3km beach and bush stroll on the Sunday morning at low tide; at high tide, it’s very hard going walking on the soft beach sand!

Pictures here from that walk and general around the campground

Before leaving on the Tuesday morning we had a view of the area at low tide and were treated to a huge flock of welcome swallows swooping for insects in the morning air

Dawesville Parkrun :
Saturday was Parkrun day and the local one here is at Dawseville (see map at the top of this post). It was their 9th Birthday and declared a “Colour Run” with everyone asked to wear white for the “chalking” at the finish line..
