Our final day here was spent with a visit to the Museum of Geraldton; we have now visited all of WA Museum’s sites: Boola Bardip in the City, Maritime and Shipwreck museums in Fremantle, Albany and Kalgoorlie, and now Geraldton.

The vessel here is a replica of the 30-foot Longboat from the Batavia in which the Captain and 50 others journeyed to find rescue for the remainder of the crew and passengers after the Batavia was wrecked on the Abrolhos islands in 1629.
The story of the Batavia can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batavia_(1628_ship)

A few images here from the Museum which focuses on the area’s indigenous and Maritime histories:

Between this visit and a previous excursion for coffee we strolled along the waterfront closest to the Museum and city centre, including the Geraldton beach.
