April 13-16, 2025
Cleaverville Beach is a Council operated campground which in the Winter Season, from May 1 to September 30, is a paid campground and fees are $16 for one night or $92 for seven nights with a maximum of 4 weeks. The rest of the year, including right now, it is a free camp with a 72-hour limit.
The campground spreads over 7 different areas with 142 sites, there are 4 Dump Points and 2 toilet blocks plus a shelter in the central area and several batches of rubbish bins collected by Council (Monday morning during our 3 days here); during the season there is usually a Camp host but apparently this year they haven’t been able to attract anyone; bookings are online and Council Rangers do visit,
The beach from the central camping area stretches for over 2km Eastwards and the tide here has a rise and fall of over 5 metres making for a very different beach between the two extremes with rocky sections and sandy parts; good shell collecting for Frances!

We were treated to great sunsets here with the Sun going down over the Dampier (Burup) Peninsula; in the other direction at night, 17km away, are the lights of Port Walcott, the loading port for Rio Tinto close by the company town of Wickham (originally developed by Robe River Iron Ore who were acquired by Rio in 2012)

A complete photo gallery is here of our wanderings around the beach and nearby bush, click the map of one of our walks:
During this walk on our last day we were treated to a Turtle grazing around not far from the beach and popping her head up; not long or close enough for a really good picture but this was the best we could get
