Today the Port exports Iron Ore, which is taken by barge to ships anchored further out in Cambridge Gulf due to their draft; a ship every 2 to 3 weeks makes this voyage with supplies replenished by a constant stream of Road Trains from the mine which is 35km from Doon Doon on the Great Northern Highway, a road distance of 175km.
