Dumaresq River – NSW on the left, QLD on the right
January 26 – Feb 3, 2018
Having spent a few days again in Ipswich we managed to complete a few tasks including new Specs for Keith, new Aircon Condenser for the Landcruiser and new brakes and wheel bearings for the Caravan. The only thing holding us up turned out to be Frances dental work with a new plate taking some extra time. Because of this we decided to head off for 3 weeks or so and visit Chris and Tracy who have moved last year from Canberra to Uralla.
First day we only travelled out through Gatton and halfway up the range on the Gatton-Clifton road to a Rest Area at Heifer Creek (above right) where we have stopped before. Being the first day of a long weekend ther were about a dozen vans and tents there already but still plenty of room. After overnighting we moved on to Leyburn and the Recreation Ground along the Creek.
From Leyburn we headed off through Inglewood and picked up some shopping then on to Texas and the Dumaresq River camp site where you can camp in QLD or NSW. There are only a few spots on the NSW side so we opted for a spot overlooking the Old bridge and the river.
A few cattle and a lone Guinea Fowl inhabit the area and the latter decided we were a good bet for some company, even Tess didn’t mind getting close!
When it rained on the Friday morning it decided it might like to get inside the van and did make it to the lower step.
