Point Possession marks the location where Captain George Vancouver claimed the South Western part of Australia for the Crown in 1791 and is at the entrance to King George III Sound which he also named; however he was not the first here as the Dutch had visited in 1627.
The map shows the relationship of the Point to the present town and surrounds and the location of the Heritage Walking Trail
The Walk starts from a Carpark and picnic area which also has access to Efelo Beach and Whaling Cove
The walk takes an out and back section of around 1.5km with a loop around and over the point which we traversed clockwise; it follows the beach on both sides along the isthmus. We finished with a Picnic Lunch.
