Leaving the tram tour for a half hour we visited the Chinese Joss House (which was only an extra $3 as a combined ticket); this is the oldest Chinese Place of Worship on it’s original site in Australia and was constructed in the 1870s and used by the Chinese Masonic Society from 1890 to the 1930s. It was saved from becoming a carpark for the nearby Odnance factory by the National Trust in 1974 and is now managed by the Bendigo Trust.
