Big Swamp, now a nature reserve, was once the town tip and at other times market gardens. Now a pleasant 3km walk takes you around the walking trail and out along two boardwalks into the heart of the reserve. There’s obviously a lot of birdlife in here even though it was a cool and “threatening to rain” type of day – in fact we just made it back to the cruiser in a heavy drizzle.
