With our fridge in need of attention by a service agent we had rung ahead to find one on the coast who wasn’t too busy to look at it. Not wanting to stay in one of the larger cities like Townsville the people at Bowen were receptive so here we are/were at a place not previously visited. The Wangaratta at the beach Caravan Park is council owned and the best price in town at $185 per week being off-peak.

The Wangaratta Caravan Park is adjacent to the Golf Course and a short walk across the end of the course takes you to about 3km of Queens Beach; to the North is the mouth of the Don River and Sunset point, pictured here.

To the South the beach extends to a small rocky outcrop which is the end of the beach at this point. The view from there is across to Grays Bay and the Edgecumbe Heights Reserve
