Leaving Bruny Island after 11 days we felt like we had finally “done Bruny”. Ten years of living in Tasmania and we never made it to the island we have ow caught up by staying at four out of six possible camping (caravan) locations. For our return trip we travelled on the MV Bowen, the newest ferry brought in to cope with increasing demand over the last years.
On the way back to Kettering we took a last look back and then passed the Mirambeena on her way to the island before we entered the marina area and drove off on our way to Kingston and The Lea Scout Camp.
The Lea Scout Camp is a 400 acre property on the top of a hill between Hobart and Kingston and to reach the campground is a 1.6 km steep climb, definitely first gear job with our rig.
Once you reach the top the camping area is a large space with provision for up to 8 powered sites and numerous unpowered areas. Water is available to fill tanks before setting up camp and toilets, showers and a Laundry complete the facilities; plus Camp Kitchen of course.
Some birdlife around here including a Brush Bronzewing which we haven’t seen before.
