Bullita was originally part of Humbert River Station, first grazed in 1914 and changing hands several times. In 1977 the Bullita grazing lease was sold to Brian Hill, the now owner of Manbullo Homestead and Brian had mentioned this to me in a conversation while we were staying there. Brian is an Agronomist and at the time of buying Bullita was manager of the nearby Victoria River Research Station; the Hill family stayed there until 1981 and sold to a member of the Durack family who eventually relinquished it to Parks and Wildlife in 1985 to become part of the newly created Judbarra? Gregory National Park
The Bullita Campground is located next to the East Baines River and on the old Bullita Stock Route which can be traversed by 4WD, river level permitting. We walked a couple of km of the route and back to camp; the river at this time of year forms the usual billabongs for this part of the country.
