Above – Coonamble RV Stop at the Showgrounds
Leaving Quambone we were basically heading North-Westerley and stopped first at Coonamble to top up on shopping and use the local Laundromat. We were here last year in the Caravan Park but this time only needed two nights and stayed in the RV stop which provides water and toilets fro a small donation (we gave $5 at the Info Centre).
There was a lot of bird life around here including the inevitable Magpie Lark but also a very curious Apostle Bird who wanted to check us out and came as far as sitting on the dog’s ramp at the van door.
From Coonamble we intended to stop at Pilliga at the Bore baths, but there had been a lot of rain (good for helping break the drought around here) and the camping area had a lot of standing water with more rain and thunderstorms forecast; so we moved on through Wee Waa and stopped for a further two nights at the Narrabri Showgrounds. We were here last year for a week so won’t dwell on any further information.
