Eaglehawk Neck, the narrow strip of land between the Tasman Peninsula and the rest of Tasmania and where the early troops placed a line of chained dogs to keep the prisoners confined to the Peninsula. The location of the line is marked today by a sculpture and sign.

The Dogline runs between Pirates Bay on the Ocean side and Eaglehawk Bay on the Western side and the beach can also be accessed from here.

Adjacent to the Dogline reserve is the site of the old military settlement where the original officers Cottage remains and has been converted into a museum by Parks and Wildlife who took over the site in 1990 when the last resident moved away. The original cottage was only two rooms and progressively other rooms were added side by side and they have each been left or returned to a condition similar to some point in hteir history and here you can see hessian and paper covered walls, bare timber board ceiling and more recent wallpaper and linings. A couple of outbuildings remain from former occupants.
