Finally, after 1 year, 2 weeks and 3 days it’s time to leave Tasmania. Having travelled across in a day sailing we opted for the night sail for the return and added a porthole cabin to our booking. This turned out to be a forward-facing cabin overlooking the whole of the bow area.
The whole experience was excellent with great smooth sailing and first-class food in the dining area, “The Pantry”. Unlike the day sail when you only get a single plate of food, for the night sail you get an endless buffet for 3 hours (6-9pm) for $29 each. This includes a couple of different mains (fish and roast with salads or veg – (Frances had 1, Keith had both!) and a choice of three desserts (F=1 twice, K = 2 twice!) and soft drinks or tea and coffee.
Before boarding time of 5 pm on we travelled in from Watermill Cottage and arrived about lunchtime, parking up again at Girdlestone Park RV stop.
