Leaving our second house sit with impending thunderstorms we descended the ranges and stopped over the weekend in Gatton where the local RV Stop borders Lockyer Creek (pictured)

Being the largest town in the Lockyer Valley, Gatton has all the usual trading businesses and on the outskirts has the University of Queensland Agricultural Campus. The town here is a little quiet on a Sunday.

We once again returned to the Ipswich Showgrounds from Gatton, having to put our Landcruiser in for both Auto Trans and Aircon service, and to visit the Doctor for Keith, it was easier than staying at daughter Zoe’s across the river.
A little more of the Ipswich Showgrounds including our visiting Butcher Bird and behind the Showgrounds the USQ Campus where you can get views to the surrounding ranges and some of the trees and resident wildlife

While here we had time to catch up with most of our family by means of a Sunday picnic lunch in Ipswich’s famous Queens Park. A time also to visit the Nature Centre there and the native animals and birds.
