A 14km detour from the Golden Quest Discovery Trail takes us to Goongarrie Homestead, for many years a working station and purchased by National Parks in 1995 it is now a campground and accommodation location with three buildings available to visitors. Normally toilets and water are available but the system is in need of repair and currently only a single drop toilet is available to visitors.

There is a walking trail of 3km that loops around to the West of the homestead and past the transmission tower; an easy walk but at this time of year, and at 32 degrees, not much birdlife or even insect life was visible.
