August 5-13
Leaving Wuruma Dam we needed to find a powered ste until our new batteries were ready to be delivered so we discovered the great little community campground at Goovigen, 40km North of Biloela.
This camp is on the old Show/Rec Ground with a fee of $10/night including power and water, and hot showers. For being a bit off the regular highways around here it is fairly popular and we didn’t have less than four vans at any time and sometimes up to nine or ten.
The town, like many, is in danger of disappearing, with the Hotel the only business left, which also runs the Post Office and takes the payments for camping.
When the railway ran here the town boasted a Store and Butcher Shop, as well as a Garage and a functioning Church (now a museum).
The funds produced by the campground are obviously very helpful to the community and the hotel produces a good range of meals (and does take away) and we had dinner there for Frances Birthday.
From here we head to Mount Morgan to have our new caravan batteries delivered…..
