A few kms before the river crossing is the Cockburn Ranges Lookout, not so good on a cloudy day but reasonable :
A large rain band was being forecast and with potentially heavy falls so we made sure we completed the GRR as far as crossing the Pentecost River; the end of the unsealed road and only 110kms to Kununurra. A long area of riverbank is available for camping but is narrow and requires a bit of maneuvering to get into many spots; with a vehicle approaching on the narrow track, a fellow camper helped direct us to reverse into a spot overlooking the river.
The track leading past the camping area is the old Wyndham to Karunjie Road and we walked a couple of km to get some views of the river and Cockburn Range.
