Frances’ birthday and our aerial tour of Kakadu!
This was definitely one of the highlights of Kakadu despite the cost of $250/head for a 60-minute flight. Our pilot James was new to the job this season and in fact, is his first flying job since qualifying. The aircraft, a 6 seater Cessna was not quite full with only ourselves and two ladies. Keith got to sit in the copilots’ seat as Frances preferred the centre row.
The flight takes you over the Ranger mine, now beginning full rehabilitation after closing in January this year, and then out over Ubirr (which we visit later) and along much of the East Alligator River and an area not accessible by road. Looping out above the wetlands you return to Jabiru .
