Location 2 on the Golden Quest Discovery Trail, Kunanalling was once a town of several hundred people but like most was short-lived. The Premier hotel was built only 2 years before the town was abandoned and all that remains of the town are the last walls standing.
We camped the night just before at Kunanalling Rock, less than 2km to the South, and where we once again see the rock retaining edges put in place to collect the runoff water from the rock and retain it behind a dirt levee. Water was the single most scarce commodity that in the Eastern goldfields and there are many tales of pioneers dying from dehydration.
Along the way the road crosses a small salt pan where someone has made some interesting cultures from old tyres and gumboots, very entertaining:
The afternoon of our arrival we walked around and over the rock which has two crests and gives views of Mount Burges to the West.
Friday morning and the completion of the drive to the Kunanalling townsite and remains of the Premier Hotel
