Lake Benalla was formed by creating a Weir across Broken River and now forms a backdrop to the Benalla Art Gallery, one of the best in Rural Australia. The Lake marks the edge of the Shopping area and has the Botanical Gardens on the Western shore where the Art Gallery sits. Close by is a memorial to Sir Edward “Weary” Dunlop, Benalla’s most famous son.
On our stroll along the Lake we were “found” by three obviously well “humanised” ducks looking for any offerings; they followed our progress for some time as we walked along!
Next… The Ceramic Mural.. a three dimensional artwork perhaps the largest Community Mural in the Southern Hemisphere..
