January 17-22
A new year of travel begins, and as we have a few things to finish off around Brisbane (Optometrist, Dentist, Car etc,) we start the year with a couple of short trips. The first to a newly discovered Free Camp near Gatton in the Lockyer Valley. Only 60km from Ipswich this is relatively close for a free camping area with no enforced limit. Mostly this is because it is used in part by itinerant workers in the nearby Vegetable growing properties.
Very quiet during our 5 days here but apparently can have 50-60 campers in peak seasons; Council maintain an Eco toilet block and take care of rubbish bins and mowing so all up a very tidy campground. The short movie shows the overview and some of the bird life found here.
