So far in our stays here at Crystal Brook Caravan Park we have wandered around the bush opposite many times but had not yet tackled the total climb to the Lions lookout, an elevation gain of almost 200m; the highest spot on the trail is actually higher than the Lookout.
We had previously found one possible track that proved to be unusable due to the very loose surface and the steepness but Keith had explored another possibility which turned out to be the best route, so Sunday morning off we went going anti-clockwise.
In the end, we covered 5.5km and walking was relatively easy but we did benefit from our hiking poles on the often loose surface.
