July 31 – Aug 4
Leaving Maleny we headed via the “back road” towards Gympie, via Kandanga and then skirting around Gympie to the West through Glastonbury and round through Widgee to a Rest Area on the creek bank.
Even though this is a relative back road we found ourselve sharing the place with two others for the night.
From here we joined the Wide Bay HIghway passing through Gayndah and climbing the Binjour Range to stop for the night at the rest area at the top. Ths is a nice timbered camp spot (but no good for Satellite TV – too may trees!) ith a great view back the way we came (Image at top of page).
From here on through Eidsvold and a little shopping then out to Wuruma Dam where we stayed a while in 2015. Since then the camping area has been reduced by about 75% and now is restricted to only two bays along the dam and the overlooking slope. Because of this it was even more crowded than last time although there seems to be room for whoever arrives!
Having taken lots of photos last time, this time we took a little video of this great campground.
NOTE – since this visit this camping area has been closed and a “new” campground is at the old village near the dam wall; no waterfront camping any more sadly.
