The Mataranka Thermal Pool and springs is very different to Bitter Springs; an open single pool with the clearest water you will probably ever see; water flows in from Rainbow Spring just upstream where you can see the water rising constantly, an incredible amount of 35 million litres every day flows from here. Pictures of the information boards can be read if you magnify them for all the information.
From the Pool and Spring is the beginning of the River Walk with only the first section currently open after flood damage; this takes you to Stevie’s Pool, usually a swimming hole but currently closed for swimming after the long and late wet season. In the next Post we will see more of the river walk at the other end in the National Park.
