January 4-14, 2019
Having picked up the van on the scheduled date of January 4 we had another week of house sitting or Zoe before we could leave and this gave us the time to transfer everything we needed into the van and to add those few extra “bits and Pieces” to make it fully ready for the road.
The main items were to install a Diesel Heater (especially for our coming trip to Tasmania!) and sort out bathroom fittings etc. Also to decide what goes where as the layout is totally different from our old van and this time we have a full tunnel boot at the front.
The bathroom needed the usual items like trays for shampoos etc. in the shower and we chose the suction fitting type as they are ideal for the fibreglass walls. A corner unit for the shower and a straight one for the vanity area together with a toothbrush holder filled the bill nicely.
The other main decision was what to do with the area on the drawbar that is left vacant by placing the LPG bottles inside the toolbox. Sunland make this an option so that you can fit options such as a second spare wheel, or an electric front leg in this area. We had a home made roof rack basket from our previous vehicle that was sitting around under daughter Olivia’s house gathering dust; so here it is re-purposed into an equipment cage. This holds all the “setup” gear when you arrive on site; levelling ramps and blocks, wheel chocks, guy ropes for the awning and the jockey wheel etc.
More setup photos and details will be in a separate page in our “AboutUs section soon.
