October 31 – November
Leaving Bogan Weir due to the rainy weather we used the fairly new Dump Point in Peak Hill to empty the toilet and refill with water.
Then we moved on to Parkes and for the (now) Saturday night stopped at the Currajong Rest Area on the outskirts of town while we assessed what to do about the Jackaroo which was running very sick again by now.
Sunday morning we moved down to the Parkes Showgrounds ($20/night) and paid for 4 nights to start with. Monday morning visiting the local Holden dealer turned up that they were unable to help for a week but recommended a local workshop, Stewarts Auto Electrical who were very helpful and booked in to assess the problem on Tuesday morning. This turned up a diagnosis of 2 failed injectors, #2 and #3; I had expected #1 to be the problem as it was the other one which was playing up in Ipswich before we replaced the harness. We can only assume that the harness problem has damaged these injectors as well but they are the only 2 left of our original 4 replaced in September last year. Anyway, parts ordered Wednesday didn’t arrive Thursday as it turned out that Sydney only had 1 and the second was coming from Melbourne – and so to Monday….
All that being done we had paid for 2 more nights Wednesday and then 3 more Saturday so hopefully Tuesday out of Parkes and heading for Bob’s at Gunning, probably via Grenfell or Young as an overnight stop.
