To the West of Windy Harbour is yet another location named for the French explorer Bruni D’Entrecasteaux (as in Tasmanaia’s Bruny Island and D’Entrecasteaux Channel) who reportedly was the first to sight this in his 1791 voyage which eventually took him to and around Van Diemens Land. The National Park here is also named after him. A modern lighthouse has been located here since 1979.

We chose to follow the path of a previous Alltrails user and walk the D’Entrecasteaux Road and back along the”Coastal Survivor’s walking trail” and old Lighthouse Road, taking all the small side detours to lookouts we tallied 11.2km (Anti-Clockwise)
