Leaving Brady’s Lake we followed the Lyell Highway through Derwent Bridge and direct to Queenstown for the next four nights before moving on to our camp booking at Strahan. Queenstown’s free camp is at the famous Queenstown gravel oval; only the tough West Coast Miners play AFL out here!

Along the way to Queenstown you pass over the Mount King William Saddle with views across to the South Western Range including the distinctive shape of Frenchmans Cap, here with a light patch of snow below the peak.

Descending the 99 bends of the Queenstown hill you have an opportunity to pull over and get the first views over the town.

Here is a real-time video descending the 99 bends of Queenstown.

The photo gallery gives some views of the town and it’s buildings including from Spion Kop Lookout.
