The Waterhouse Conservation Area is a less visited (by tourists) location than many as it involves around 15km of gravel road which is not all in the best condition, the last 5km inside the Conservation area was particularly corrugated and with too many corners to get any speed to overcome them. Once here, however, you are again rewarded with one of Tassie’s wonderful almost deserted beaches and coastlines which goes for miles.
From the edge of the Campground on a clear day (our last here) you can see Petal Point and the Musselroe Wind Farm which is around 25km away
We had not been here long when a couple of Wallabies appeared mid afternoon and were quite happy to wander as far as our awning and around the fence lines nearby; one of them was a half grown Joey.
More images here from the area around the campground and a walk along the beach for a bit over 2km to where there is a small fishing “camp” of locals caravans and a shack, very typically Tasmanian.
