The other main walk from the Shannon Campground is a combination of a walk trail to the Dam, about 2.5km from the middle of the campground, together with the Rocks Trail , a loop from the dam, around 3km; our total with some changes was 8.79km.
We stopped for lunch at Mokare Rock which is about the halfway point of the whole walk with a view over the surrounding forest.
The route is clockwise at the bottom then anticlockwise around the loop and return to the camp via the access road.
