Having finally got our Landcruiser back on June 19 we spent a couple of days getting ready to be on the road again.  One of the things that popped up was that our Diesel Heater was playing up and not starting properly, a quick check of the main connector proved it was full of dust and that seemed to fix the problem.  However, after coming over to Tallangatta Showgrounds and testing it again it was still having problems.  We seem to have fixed it after cleaning every connection  so when we leave here we may be free camping again, otherwise it will probably be a new heater as they are now so cheap.

Having lost three months with our breakdown we have decided to abandon our intention of doing the length of the Murray River and leave that for another year.  Meanwhile, partially because we have to take the Landcruiser back for a service and check after 800-1000kms, we are “pottering around” the upper Murray for a little while. The Showgrounds here are good cheap camping at $105/week so next week will be our third week here and then we plan to move on.

Being here has given us chance to sort out a few other things like buying a side loader system for our Kayak which was too difficult to get onto the roof from the back and impossible from the side.  We are still making a few mods to the Yakima Loader but should be sorted out in another couple of days.  We have also added a lightbar to the cruiser and bought some new LED clearance lights for the caravan as the old festoon globe type are getting too unreliable; these will get fitted progressively over the next few weeks no doubt.

Our old dog, Tess, has also developed a problem with a growth on her top gum so is having surgery to remove it at the local Vet while we are here.   Here she is wearing her Winter coat as it has been a little chilly here some days!

Today (July 5) is a great warm day where we have had a top of 18 and blue skies after a light early fog; however the forecast for Saturday is some rain with a top of 8!
