Above – Tilpa Weir looking Upstream
Leaving Louth, together with Sherrill, we had another good road to Tilpa Weir, about 100km again, except for the Bulldust in places! The road had obviously been graded not long ago but had had very little traffic and no rain so all the loose dust had come to the surface. The problem with towing a van that has a wider track than the car is that the van tends to “steer” from behind as it hits the edge of the wheel ruts! A road that you could probably do 90 on becomes impossible above 70; the worst patches of bulldust pulled us back to about 40.
View from our camp:
Tilpa Weir is about 3km from the “main” road and offers another great free camping area with lots of space overlooking the Darling. No facilities except bins and a picnic shelter/BBQ but nice and level and good hard surface.
As it was Anzac Day weekend we decided to stay for 3 days; having already been at Louth for two days we finally had our first experience of digging a hole for the toilet waste (or should I say I did, Frances wouldn’t come near!).
