The famous Wreath Flower only grows in a couple of small areas, here near Pindar and a few select others, officially courtesy Wikipedia:
“Wreath lechenaultia grows in open areas in sandy or gravelly soil between Tallering Peak on Tallering Station and Coorow, and near Nerren Nerren Station near Kalbarri and Boolardy Station, in the Avon Wheatbelt, Geraldton Sandplains, Murchison and Yalgoo biogeographic regions of inland south-western Western Australia.”
Here they grow 10km North of Pindar along both sides of a section of the Beringarra-Pindar Road and well signed with a one way traffic system for visitor safety.
Photo gallery of the flowers to the right, click the image, but first a little on Pindar itself:
The “township” of Pindar has long been abandoned with the Hotel, built in 1907, closed at present but still equipped as a B&B and Cafe possibly opening again in 2026; it ceased to operate as a hotel with liquor licence in 1975. A few buildings remain and the railway no longer extends as far as the Wheatbins here.
