Moving North from Lake Cargelligo we decided on the Riverview Caravan Park, here at Condobolin. A Council owned park with a new manager and very friendly atmosphere. We were free to select our own site and settled on one at the back close to the Weir.Plenty o room here with sites in irregular shaped “blocks” of five or six and a separate more open area off to one side behind the cabins.
The Condobolin Weir is about 2 metres deep at the wall, which was originally constructed to provide a guaranteed water supply for the growing town; during our stay it was running quite hard (Lachlan River) and provided a pleasant backdrop noise of flowing water.
One of the newest features of Condobolin is the “Utes in the Paddock” display on the entrance to town (just before the Caravan Park coming from the South as we did). These were at the small community of Ootha, about 30km East of here but were relocated to make the display more accessible to more travellers. The Council has created a large drive through parking bay to showcase these fantastic works of art which are laid out in a slight curve with information signs for all but two of the exhibits. The pictures and signs tell the story….
