April 1-2
A great free camp alongside the main bridge into town from the Roma side, lots of space, toilets and dump point. The river here is now the Balonne which the Condamine flows into. Only a handful of vans here, has a boat ramp on the other side of the highway and a pontoon.
The town has a combo supermarket/hardware/take-away and cafe – very enterprising; does have a pharmacy but no newsagent, newsagent items from the P.O. There is a Butcher however.
Nice river bank area above the weir (opposite end of town to the bridge/camping) and water actually running over the weir here; first flowing water we have seen since Warwick.
Stayed here for 2 nights then moved on towards St George to first check out the free camping area at Warroo Bridge, about half way between the two towns.
