Above: Yass RV Stop alongside the Lachlan River
July 14-15 2020
Finally we left the coast and for the first time since March 24 we have no beach to walk on. Heading inland we backtracked down the coast to Bateman’s By and along the Kings Highway through Braidwood, skrting t the North of Canberra to the town of Yass. We visited here back in 2015 while staying at Gunning. The RV Stop here allows for stays of 2 days and has no facilities except rubbish bins but there is a pubic toilet just across the Weir in Riverside Park.
Pictures here of the Weir and Lachlan River, the old railway bridge is no longer in use.
From Yass we continued on to Cowra where Keith stayed briefly in 2016 while Frances was in the UK. This time we stayed at the Showgrounds and after the first few days converted our brief stay at $20/night into a week for $100. There are all standard facilities here including a washing machine and a flat mostly grass area. Not quite in town but only about a 1km walk to the start of the shops
