Murray River, Indi Bridge
April 4-6, 2018
We may have stayed at Huon Reserve for a second night but the wind had come up and it was not a very pleasant morning and so we decided to move on to our target of Indi Bridge.
Between the Alpine Way junction and Indi Bridge you pass over a ridge with this magnificent view of the valley with Towong to the left and Towong Upper (and Indi Bridge further around) to the right.
This campground is as far up the Murray as we could go with our dog, Tess. All the campgrounds further upstream are full National Park with no dogs allowed and after a while become four wheel drive access only and not caravan towing territory. In a straight line it is about 65km from Indi Bridge to the source of the Murray to the South-South-East.
There were a few campers here despite the location being on a no through road; a combination of school holidays and the “Man From Snowy River Festival” being on this coming weekend in nearby Corryong (20km away). The valley here is mostly Dairy Farming and the local farmer was moving his cows across the road and into the paddock over the river from the campground each day.
There was quite flow in the river here which was deceptively deep away from the rocky bars, not much water bird life except for a couple of grey herons flying over at one point.
And so – onwards downstream from here……..
