May20-21
Arrived and set up in Bauple expecting to stay for a couple of days with water and loos and there it is a sign that says 24hrs only, no loos in sight, nor water! But it is a lovely little town, the rest area can only site about 7 vans which is dead centre of town (town! No shops here, just an historical museum.) We decide to sneak in a second night anyway. We had a lovely conversation with the neighbouring house owners who toddled over for a chat. I guess they are a bit touchy if us traveling folk get a bit close and noisy and were probably checking to see if we were about to overstay our welcome (which we did!) I gather we should keep on their good books. I expect this gentleman (50yrsish) would have been heavily involved in the bikie lifestyle and probably on the wrong side of the law for much of his life. Had made enough money (lots legally mmm or not!)to turn his life around, was currently setting up a property out of town. He hadn’t needed to work for the last year or so but was well involved in his local community and did charitable youth work as well, and talked about turning to god. I was worried at the beginning he was going to become preachy but couldn’t have been so wrong thank goodness made sense.
Anyhow with our second night stay we had enough time to look through their lovely museum, stacked full of stuff and bought some of their lime marmalade.
